News: Microsoft Will Navigate You Out Of The Hood

“RIIIICCCCKKKKYYYYYY!!!”
Looks like Microsoft is making some big moves in the gps market. Apparently the conglomerate has just recently been approved for a patent that warns users of “unsafe neighborhoods or being in an open area that is subject to harsh temperatures.” In other words, the technology makes sure to warn you when you’re in a “ghetto” area. I’m supposing I could post this as “survival” material since no out of towner wants to be stuck in crime ridden areas at night. I don’t exactly know how this is calculated other than compiling police reports for a specific area or input of members from the community. I’m not quite sure how to feel about this, but I suppose it would help tourists in rental cars stay the hell away from places like The Jungle. That place really sucks and pretty much the only place I refuse to visit in LA. However, I would advise some major food lovers to visit some “not so safe” areas during the day as there are awesome places to eat. Yelp is your friend people.
