Hot! The Adidas Adizero Rose 2.5 Playoff Edition

If you know me or have seen my other shoe posts, it’s pretty easy to tell that I’m a Nikehead through and through. There’s a few exceptions though, and the Adidas Adizero Rose 2.5 Playoff Edition is definitely one of them. It seems pretty obvious that D-Rose bit a few of the concepts from another Bulls player looking at these shoes. The cement is reminiscent of the Jordan IV’s but I’m not complaining. Throw in grey accents on any shoe and I’m happy.

The toecap seems to be tumbled leather encapsulated in some sort of see through PVC material to prevent scratches and scuffs. No complaints here. As long as cheap ass leather isn’t being used to make performance basketball shoes I’m all for it.

There’s suede galore all over the shoe with a cracked appearance near the heel. I like how the three stripes from the company are incorporated into Rose’s name as well.

Aside from plenty of venting for breathability/weight purposes, the sole is pretty much all herringbone. The herringbone pattern is a tried and true method for traction on the hardwood so why mess with it for the purpose of form over function? Especially if D-Rose is supposed to be wearing these deep into the postseason. With the playoffs approaching in less than a month, I’m hoping Rose is healed up to make a deep run. He’ll have to go through either a reinvigorated Celtics squad or the villainous Heat, but hardly any rings in the NBA come easy. And with Adidas banking $240 million+ on their Golden Child, it looks like the Adizero Rose’s will be in the forefront of the performance shoe race for quite some time.

The Black/Red/Cement colorway is nothing new to Bulls fans, but instead of a Jordan retro release, basketball fans are treated to a new take and we at Romero Brooks approve. A moderate price point at $109.99 make this damn near a must buy if you play ball a lot indoors or are in a rec league. I do neither right now so it’s on the backburner until I feel like an impulse buy.

The shoe weighs around 11.7 ounces which is really good for a high cut sneaker and reviews have been glowing. Not like I can hoop at a mediocre pace but at least whatever I’m wearing will look alright when I hit the court. Or I can just snag like 50 pairs from the local Footlocker once the dead rise and walk the Earth. Hey, it’s not looting if the store owners abandoned their business. Don’t judge me.
