The Walking Dead Coming To Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights
Finally, a reason to venture out to overpriced amusement parks in the Fall. Looks like AMC struck a deal to bring The Walking Dead to Universal Studios Orlando/Hollywood! Around my way, Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood sucked. The night consisted of poorly dressed costumes, long lines, and a droll experience. Which is pretty much the same if you were to go any other time of the year. Perhaps sensing a potential dip in sales, Universal swooped in and collaborated with the franchise to create yet another fan experience to push the name and genre.
“With The Walking Dead, we want to make fans of the series feel like they are literally walking in the footsteps of the show’s characters, experiencing all of the horrific events from the series just as they experienced them,” said John Murdy, Creative Director at Universal Studios Hollywood. “The goal is to make guests of Halloween Horror Nights feel like they are trapped in the world of The Walking Dead, using all of the attention to detail and movie-quality production values that Halloween Horror Nights has become famous for. You’re no longer sitting on a couch, watching a show…you’re living it!” – AMC TV
Sure beats a sh*tty tram ride with underpaid actors swinging plastic axes around. Then again I’m not the hugest fan of Halloween. Ever since I got a tooth brush as a treat…
Granted, zombies on Halloween night aren’t anything new, but given Greg Nicotero’s imagination and a big budget from Universal, the possibilities are enough to make even the biggest skeptic hopeful for something epic. Maybe another obstacle course of sorts? Large hordes chasing you through a maze? Maybe even a recreation of some of the pivotal scenes from the show/comic. That would be damn sweet. Replacing the stage shows with a horrid Walking Dead based action drama sounds pretty good considering the quality of shows that are available now. Just being honest. More info on actual plans once they become available!
