Sidescrolling Horror/Action Game Deadlight Now On Xbox Live
Xbox Live Arcade just keeps getting more promising with these downloadable releases. We reported on Deadlight earlier in the year as a sidescrolling Adventure/Horror game coming to the Arcade at some point this year, and as of last week, it’s finally here.
In an apocalyptic world where existence is futile, a solitary man treks the American west coast. The year is 1986 and a mysterious disease has decimated mankind, transforming people into killer automatons. Survival is the measure of all in this original cinematic puzzle platformer. Deadlight is the frightening odyssey of an ordinary man fighting extinction like a flame in the desert. Hopeless and unable to escape the horrors of a dying world, Randall Wayne will reveal himself as a natural born survivor.
An action packed hybrid of Limbo and I Am Alive, Deadlight takes us back to the semi old school. Automatons, as you may guess, are synonymous with zombies. Empty shells of human beings seeking nothing less than living human flesh to dine on. In most of the trailers I’ve seen, the use of shadowy noir-like art and a near monochromatic foreground blend together excellently. I won’t spill any major details here, as I’m planning on purchasing the game and finding more about it myself, but our hero Randall fights through a world filled with shadowy zombies, the whole time avoiding the “authorities” who have been corrupted by their own power. Through the adventure you’ll solve puzzles to advance, avoid detection by the military, and make valuable allies who will help you along your path to survival.
I’ll be downloading this week, so stay tuned for a review to come from either myself or Kevinote.
