A new drug developed from scopolamine found in “Borrachero”(get you drunk) trees is hitting the streets in Colombia, but not in the way one might think. The drug is tasteless and odorless, but while under the influence, users/victims are put into a zombie-like state. Conscious, but of no free will. Memory loss and hallucinations are also side effects of the drug. It seems now that the days of old where beating money out of tourists was the norm. Now this “zombie-drug” can be administered in food, drinks, or even blown into the face of people without them ever knowing about it.

One victim told Vice that a man approached her on the street asking her for directions. Since it was close by, she helped take the man to his destination, and they drank juice together. She took the man to her house and helped him gather all of her belongings, including her boyfriend`s cameras and savings. “It is painful to have lost money,” the woman said,” but I was actually quite lucky.”

Quite lucky is an understatement. She could have been beaten up, harvested for organs, or worse. I can’t say I agree with the depiction of a “zombie” drug if the term is taken literally. Haven’t heard of people wilding the f*ck out and eating each other, but with the way drugs are cultivated these days, it might not be too far off. I mean sh*t, if you get cocaine from throwing gasoline and battery acid on some plants, who knows what might happen if a drug dealer/criminal tries experimenting with scopolamine. If this drug is ever introduced stateside, I’ll be investing in a gas mask to put in my bug out kit. No one is taking my ass virginity or robbing me if I can help it. Nuh uh, not on my watch.

While she’s growing and maturing every year, you might know Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, the bloodthirsty tike from Kick Ass. Or the bloodthirsty tike known as Abby from the movie Let Me In. Well, now she’s in talks to play… wait for it… a bloodthirsty zombie teenager! First a faux superhero, then a vicious vampire, then a petulant child in Dark Shadows, and now a zombie. If Chloe keeps this up, she might be the next Danielle Harris. Not that that’s a bad thing.

Set against the backdrop of a zombie apocalypse, story concerns a father’s unconditional love for his daughter. Considine is in talks to play the father, while Moretz would play his titular daughter. – Variety

Let’s hope this movie doesn’t end up anything like the Governor and his “daughter’s” story from The Walking Dead comics. I shudder at the thought. Ick.

Duuuuuude. Talk about one hell of a fight. Poirier vs Jung was one of the best displays of complete mixed martial arts that I’ve seen thus far. Both men promised a barnburner, and both came through in spades. While the first and second rounds were won by The Korean Zombie with takedowns, disciplined standup and some awesome grappling, Poirier hung tough and could not be put away. He came out strong in round three, snapping the fatiguing Korean’s head back multiple times with stinging straight lefts and crisp combos. Both men ended the round strong while headed into the championship periods.

The fourth round is where things changed. After a few combos were exchanged, Jung faked a takedown attempt then punished Poirier with a vicious uppercut. Visibly dazed, the Louisianan backed into the fence only to be met with a flying knee attempt. Dustin then shot for a takedown and The Korean Zombie capitalized after sprawling.

Jung slapped on the Brabo/D’arce choke and put his opponent to sleep in seconds. Another thrilling victory for the South Korean fighter! UFC President Dana White announced that Jung will get a title shot against Jose Aldo, which is what every fighter dreams of. We’ll see if he can carry out his mission later on. For now, we party.

New trailer alert! Looks like Joel and Ellie are on the road when they’re ambushed by some hooligans in control of a choke point on a highway. Joel must have been a gambler because he picked up on reads pretty well. Also, where the hell did that country accent come from? Didn’t notice that during the initial trailer. In any case, I came across the vid on IGN with some new tidbits of information about The Last Of Us. Well, not tidbits. A whole lot of info is presented to readers courtesy of Neil Drucker and Bruce Straley of Naughty Dog. If you don’t want to read the entire interview, here are the key points:

Actress Ashley Johnson was used to model Ellie. The team is currently making Ellie younger than the initial trailer.

The game focuses on the human condition once conventions like civil law are thrown out the window

Both Ellie and Joel have to deal with a tyrannic military presence as well as other survivors on top of the “infected”

The story takes place 20 years after the initial outbreak

There’s going to be a large emphasis on the environment outside of the confines of military outposts

There will not be a co-op mode. Instead developers are concentrating on a more intense single player experience

The Last Of Us will not focus on run and gun tactics

Tell us more dammit! I don’t know how all these tweaks play into overall production time but let’s hope to see some more stuff from Naughty Dog during E3 with a concrete release date.

Kudos on the music choices too! I’m loving the old school dreary country music that has accompanied the trailers thus far. Shout out to Hank Williams Sr!

BIG TEENGS GWANAN!

HUGE shoutout to Gary of Concrete Hero. After reading our initial post on the massive obstacle course, he reached out and we chopped it up over our site, his site, and AIDS Project Los Angeles. He dug what Romero Brooks is about and invited yours truly to come through for an interview on 98.7 fm, one of the biggest music stations in LA! To say I was hyped was an understatement. I’m honored to be a part of something much bigger than a website or obstacle course with massive potential to help those living with AIDS. I’ll be on with Gary Turner (Director of Communications for CH), Craig Thompson who is the AIDS Project Los Angeles Executive Director, and Kade, the DJ for 98.7 at the 6-11 pm hours. I’ll be on with the three folks mentioned above on Wednesday, 5/16/2012 from 6-11pm PT at some point so tune in and support your boys or donate to our pages!

Make sure to tune in to hear more about Concrete Hero and how the epic event will help those living with AIDS in the Los Angeles area. Oh yeah, one more thing. DONATE TO HELP FIND A CURE!!!

Meet the new firearm in what’s sure to be a long line of guns claiming to be the most efficient at disposing of zombies, the Valkyrie BSR Mod 1. Combining the technology from Valkyrie Armament and Slidefire Solutions, the BSR is pretty much what you see in the picture. A chain fed modded AR-15 chambered in .223 with a spooky paint job. While I’d ditch the paint job for flat black or coyote brown, the concept is certainly interesting. I’d definitely want to see a torture test with this weapon given how it’s not mass produced. Yet.

I’m not a fan of “slide fire/bump fire” guns since it walks a fine line of legality, and the stocks being sold to bump fire are largely untested out in the battlefield. While the BSR Mod 1 is on our radar, I think I’ll stick with the M249 for a smaller round machine gun. Not like I’d ever be able to procure one when SHTF, but a man can always dream. For a be all end all zombie weapon, I’d still have to go with Max Brooks’ Lobo. So much win. A crovel would work nicely too.

Yep, another Korean Zombie post. Don’t like it? Ehhhhh too bad. With UFC on Fuel 3 airing tomorrow night, the exposure and interviews have ramped up. MMA journalist Ariel Helwani sat down with Chan Sung Jung over the weekend over what’s sure to be one barnburner of a fight. Those 145ers are no joke. Here’s the interview in full courtesy of MMA Fighting.

Ariel Helwani: Does it feel any different knowing you’re preparing for your first UFC main event fight?
Chan Sung Jung: Definitely. I’m motivated to work that much harder knowing that it’s for a main event. Not that I don’t work hard for other fights, but the fight being a main event makes it special.

Do you think a win over Dustin Poirier should make you the No. 1 contender at 145?
Yes, I think so. I think right now Dustin and I are the main contenders for a fight against Aldo, for a number of reasons, so it makes sense that the winner of our fight would be the next in line for Aldo.

Do you feel as though not enough people talk about you as one of the current top contenders in the weight class?
A lot of people count me out as a top contender in at 145. I still have a lot to prove in the minds of the fans and in my own mind, as well. I want to fight, and beat, the best competition. Once I’ve done that, people will have no doubt about my standing in the division. I want to prove it to myself and to everyone else. Shouldn’t that be the goal of every fighter? To fight the toughest guys, the best guys and show that you’re better than them? Have you brought in anyone in particular to help you to train for Poirier?
I’ve been working with our team captain, Jang Yong Kim, because he most closely resembles Poirier skill-wise. Other than that, I’ve been working my all around game, because Dustin is such a well-rounded fighter. Ben Henderson stopped by and trained with KTT a few times, too. He is a great guy and a beast in training, so working with a guy like that is only going to help.

Have you been impressed with what he has been doing lately in the UFC?
Yes, he’s been having a good run lately. That said, I still think I have the upper hand on him in standing and on the ground.

What do you think is his biggest strength and biggest weakness as a fighter?
His biggest strengths are that he’s tough and he’s very composed, especially for a relatively young guy. I think that his weakness is that while he’s well-rounded, he doesn’t stand out in one particular area.

In February, you tweeted “Dustin Poirier? 6 seconds.” Does that mean you are predicting a six-second KO on May 15?
It would probably be tough to knock him out in 6 seconds. We all try get interest in the fights on social media, but I am confident in my ability to get a KO in any fight. This fight is no exception.

He recently released a parody video of him about to slay a bunch of zombies. What did you make of that?
I thought it was pretty good. Since it didn’t actually show what happened in the fight, I like to think the zombies won. But, it’s definitely savvy marketing and it’s the sort of thing that fans like to see.

You have been gaining a lot of popularity in Korea recently, why do you think that is?
I think because of the “Twister” victory against Leonard Garcia and the seven-second win over (Mark) Hominick. It’s the first time a Korean fighter has had big wins like that in the UFC, so the Korean fans have responded to that. I’m really thankful for all my fans, here in Korea, in the US and all around the world. I can’t thank the fans enough.

How popular is MMA in Korea these days? And has the rise of Benson Henderson helped at all?
These days MMA in Korea is probably more popular than it is in Japan. Korean fighters are getting better and better, and it shows in the UFC and other organizations. Ben’s success, in light of the fact that his mother is Korean, and his love of his Korean heritage, has been a boost to the popularity of the UFC and MMA in Korea. He’s a very likeable guy and people can see that. Ben could be a huge star in Korea, so I hope he stays champion for a long time.

You were on a variety show with Arianny Celeste last year. What did you think of her?
Obviously, Arianny is very attractive and a beautiful. It’s tough for me to approach her though, because my English isn’t great and I’ve heard that American women aren’t into Asian men. But, yeah, I like her. (laughs)

Your manager, Brian Rhee, recently said that Tri-Coasta, the maker of your famous Korean Zombie T-shirt, is “screwing” you. Can you explain what is going on between you and the brand right now?
We’re pursuing legal action at the moment, so my lawyer has advised me not to comment on the matter. As much as I’d like to talk about it, I can’t really say anything about it. I will, however, say that they do owe me money. And, no, I am no longer affiliated with them. Also, TrauMMA Combat has released a new Korean Zombie shirt. So, if anyone is interested in supporting me in that way, definitely but the new shirt from TrauMMA Combat.

Why do you think people like you so much as a fighter?
Honestly, I think I’ve been lucky. Whether it’s the “Twister”, or the seven-second KO, I’ve been lucky enough to be in some great fights that the fans seem to have really enjoyed it. I don’t know if I can really take credit or that I did something special to make those things happen.

Finally, you were recently featured in GQ Magazine. How did that come about?
GQ in Korea contacted me directly. There were only a couple of pictures, so I don’t know if a lot of people saw it, to be honest with you. A little while back, I was on the cover of the Maxim here in Korea and that definitely had more of an impact, because it was the cover.

Also, I heard that there are lots of Korean Americans in Virginia, so hopefully, there will be a lot of Korean flags in the arena for my fight with Dustin Poirier.

Damn shame that Tri Coasta MMA isn’t shelling out any dough to Romero Brooks’ favorite fighter. The shirts were really nice and something I’d wear that doesn’t look nearly as stupid as those Affliction tees. Those pieces of sh*t are way too “bro” for my tastes. In any case, let this interview serve as notice for uber hot American ladies like Arianny Celeste. Try dating some Asian dudes from time to time. We might be an acquired taste, but you’ll never know unless you try!

Luckily there’s footage of UFC Lightweight Champion Ben Henderson training at Korean Top Team with The Korean Zombie. Ben’s got a strong base and Jung’s open guard game is surprisingly decent against a way heavier fighter.

So, you know the whole Mayan Calendar phenomenon? The most detailed ancient calendar known to man that predicts the world’s demise by December 21st, 2012? Turns out we misread the information. Derp. Archaeologists have now unearthed another earlier calender that is just as, if not more complex than the first discovered one.

The Maya recorded time in a series of cycles, including 400-year chunks called baktuns. It’s these baktuns that have led to rumors of an end-of-the-world catastrophe on Dec. 21, 2012 — on that date, a cycle of 13 baktuns will be complete. But the idea that this means the end of the world is a misconception, archaeologist David Stuart said. In fact, Maya experts have known for a long time that the calendar doesn’t end after the 13th baktun. It simply begins a new cycle. And the calendar encompasses much larger units than the baktun.

“There were 24 units of time they actually could have incorporated into their calendar,” Stuart said. “Here, we’re only seeing five units and they’re still really big.”

In one column, the ancient scribe even worked out a cycle of time recording 17 baktuns, the researchers found. In another spot, someone etched a “ring number” into the wall. These notations were used to record time in a previous cycle, thousands of years into the past. The calendar also appears to note the cycles of Mars and Venus, the researchers said. Symbols of gods head the top of each lunar cycle, suggesting that each cycle had its own patron deity.

“There was a lot more to the Maya calendar than just 13 baktuns,” Stuart said. – Yahoo News

Here’s a picture of some of the hieroglyphics that puts to rest the whole 2012 Doomsday concept. Good thing the Mayans didn’t say anything about zombies never coming for human flesh, or Romero Brooks really be screwed. The referenced article states that less than one percent of the Mayan habitat of Xultun was explored, and no one really knows how far the boundary extended. Which means there could be even more important information could be discovered as researchers keep at it. Maybe we’ll even find out what happened to those idiots who disappeared over at Roanoke. Hey, it could happen. Those Mayans were wise beyond their years.
